The Sweet T's Story

Tammy Montesinos and her husband Abel opened Sweet T’s Bakery & Cake Studio after dreaming about owning their own business for 15 years. Tammy grew up in the neighboring town of Mount Prospect and started her career when she was 15 years old as a shop girl at a large well-known Chicago area bakery. She worked at Central Continental for 26 years, baking and decorating alongside her husband, winning national and regional awards. Abel (Tammy's husband) was a Mexican immigrant working at bakeries for 30 years. Their  passion for baking comes from the heart and every cake and baked good is made with love and passion for building memories and making celebrations special. "Sometimes we find joy in the littlest things. A sweet treat can make a day special or beautiful cake can be part of a special memory."  So in 2014 after six weeks of remodeling their newly leased space in downtown Arlington Heights into a bakery, she and her family opened Sweet T’s doors and started making memories for their very own customers.

5 years later, Sweet T’s is a success and a staple part of the downtown Arlington Heights community. Abel comes in at 2:30 a.m. each morning to bake everything from scratch while Tammy decorates and oversees every cake, cookie, and cupcake, with help from the shop’s employees. They offer not only custom cakes, cookies, and cupcakes but also a wide variety of breakfast pastries like coffee cake, cinnamon rolls, and danishes. The family-owned store has a fun and inviting atmosphere from the pink polka dot tablecloths to the colorful and beautifully decorated cakes that line the window displays. Tammy and Abel are very proud of what their dream has become and hopes their passion and love for baking memories shines through every time a customer visits their store.
